"We've Got You Covered"

“We’ve Got You Covered” is a phrase we’ve being using around the WebWorks offices a lot recently. It was first used as a way to talk about how ePublisher has more input and output options than any other publishing engine.

As we looked back at out history we realized that each time a new input format was needed, or if a new output format was becoming a significant player in the market place, we would just add it to the ePublisher platform. Throughout the product’s history, users and subscribers to ePublisher were automatically covered, and able to meet changing demands of publishing a variety of content online in a format that their customers were asking for.

But the more we used the phrase, we came to realize that it meant far more than a simple statement about formats…

Twestival Time

WebWorks was delighted to be a “Rio Grande” sponsor for the recent 2009 Austin Twestival charity event to raise awareness of the need for clean drinking water around the world.

On 12 February 2009 175+ cities around the world hosted Twestivals which brought together Twitter communities for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water.
It was a fun night out for the WebWorks staff that attended , and it was all for a good cause that we were delighted to be associated with, even in such a small way.

WebWorks and the Movies

One of the great things about working at WebWorks is that nearly everyone on the team is a movie fan. We love movies and conversations around the office are often peppered with movie quotes, and even the occasional bad Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation.

Movies have become so much part of the WebWorks culture that we have even incorporated them into our regular quarterly company meetings. Each quarter we have an all-hands company meeting to review the previous quarter and to discuss plans for the new quarter. A couple of years ago we started a tradition of including a movie clip as part of that meeting.

How to get people to use a wiki? – Invite them to a party.

Yesterday evening I was putting the finishing touches to my upcoming white paper on the use of wikis as an online publishing format, and was thinking back about the techniques we used here at WebWorks to make the use of our internal wiki such a success.

Here’s what I wrote in the white paper:

While the main focus of the wiki may be technical, you can speed acceptance by seeding the wiki with other topics that may have a broader appeal. For instance one of the things we use the wiki for at WebWorks is organizing the company Christmas Party!
