WebWorks and the Movies

Posted on: February 6th, 2009

One of the great things about working at WebWorks is that nearly everyone on the team is a movie fan. We love movies and conversations around the office are often peppered with movie quotes, and even the occasional bad Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation.

Movies have become so much part of the WebWorks culture that we have even incorporated them into our regular quarterly company meetings. Each quarter we have an all-hands company meeting to review the previous quarter and to discuss plans for the new quarter. A couple of years ago we started a tradition of including a movie clip as part of that meeting.

The chosen movies are immortalized by a poster hung on the “movie wall” in the office recreation/rest area.

So far the movies chosen have been:

A few days ago we held our 2009 Kick-Off meeting and THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN was added to the list.

Given our love of movies it only seemed natural that we should think about ways of incorporating video into the ways we communicate with our customers.

For over a year now we have had a series of videos on our website that walk users through various ways of using ePublisher platform. We also record our regular FREE webinar sessions, and video taped many of the sessions at the annual RoundUp users conference.

But yet we still felt something was missing. We needed a series of short videos that would be a fun way for us to share some of the ideas and concepts behind ePublisher, as well as answer the questions we get asked the most at various events and conferences, or over the phone.

The solution we came up with was the WebWorks WhiteBoard –  The videos are designed to be quickly produced, fun and informal. Just a guy, a white board and a marker pen. The aim is to keep them short, between two and five minutes, and to cover the questions you want answered. You can find the videos on a dedicated YouTube Channel under the UserID “WebWorks2009.”

The first few WhiteBoard videos have been posted, so please stop by and let us know what you think, and what other subjects you would like us to cover.
